Abstract Purpose:Ocular surface squamous neoplasia(OSSN)is mostly considered a neoplastic lesion at the limbal cornea, and some may invade the cornea. We report two cases of OSSN with a unique form of corneal invasion.

Cases:Case 1 is a 79-year-old male. Pseudopterygium and dendriform subepithelial corneal opacity with terminal bulb-like ampulla were observed on the nasal side of the right eye. Case 2 is a 72-year-old male. He had an elevated lesion on the nasal side of his right eye that resembled a pinguecula, and round, slightly elevated subepithelial corneal opacities with vascular invasion.

Results:Surgical excisions of the lesions were performed, and both of the patients have not reported recurrence of the disease. Histopathological examinations in both cases revealed epithelial dysplasia and an increased MIB-1 labeling, leading to the diagnosis of OSSN.

Conclusions:We report two cases of OSSN with atypical subepithelial corneal opacities. Surgical excision was an effective treatment, and histological examination was useful for definitive diagnosis. Subepithelial opacities with unusual shape led to the definitive diagnosis of OSSN.
