Abstract Purpose:Postoperative hypotony and vitreous incarceration can be observed after tube surgery in aphakic eyes. We report two cases of glaucoma in aphakic eyes in which Ahmed Glaucoma Valve(AGV)was implanted with a stent to prevent possible complications.

Case 1:A 55-year-old man with aphakic glaucoma after atopic cataract surgery presented with scarring of the upper conjunctiva and vitreous prolapse into the anterior chamber. Increased intraocular pressure in the left eye had been treated by anti-glaucoma eye drops;however, the patient repeatedly missed outpatient visits and his visual field deteriorated. We performed AGV implantation with a 4-0 PROLENE® stent and anterior vitrectomy.

Case 2:A 55-year-old man with aphakic glaucoma after atopic cataract surgery presented with vitreous prolapse into the anterior chamber. He repeatedly missed outpatient visits and subsequently developed poorly controlled intraocular pressure in the left eye. We performed AGV implantation with a 4-0 PROLENE® stent and anterior vitrectomy.

Result:Good postoperative intraocular pressure control was obtained in both cases, and no complications were observed.

Conclusion:AGV implantation with a stent is an effective procedure for treating glaucoma in aphakic eyes.
