Abstract Purpose:To retrospectively assess the patient satisfaction after extended Müller's muscle tucking ptotic surgery.

Cases and Methods:Extended Müller's muscle tucking using carbon-dioxide laser resections were performed from May 2016 through June 2018. At preoperative and postoperative(1 to 3 months)symptoms(insufficient open eyelid, narrow view, headache, stiff shoulder, sleepiness)and improvement and satisfactions for surgery and postoperative cosmetic were asked with questionnaires and compared. For lower satisfied patients, the factors were also investigated.

Results:There were 180 eyes of 95 patients(32 males and 63 females). The mean age was 67.9±10.8(range:25〜88)years. The symptoms improved as 51% of insufficient open eyelid decreased to 12%, 41% of narrow view to 6%, 31% of headache to 11%, 70% of stiff shoulder to 44%, and 72% of sleepiness to 52%. There were improvements in 89% of patients, satisfactions for surgery and cosmetic were 89% and 84%, respectively. Twelve eyes of 7 patient were not satisfied in the improvement, satisfaction for surgery, or cosmetic due to slight improvement in cosmetic, dry eye, and feeling of stiffness.

Conclusions:While the patient satisfaction was high, it would be necessary to verify the patient's expectations and explain the postoperative outcomes including the cosmetic.
