Abstract Backgound:Granular corneal dystrophy is often detected and treated after reaching adulthood.

Purpose:To report a 6-year-old girl who was diagnosed with granular corneal dystrophy in both eyes and who received phototherapeutic keratectomy.

Case:A 4-year-old girl was referred to us for impaired visual acuity.

Findings and Clinical Course:Both eyes showed typical findings of granular corneal dystrophy. Visual acuity decreased to 0.3 right and 0.4 left at the age of 6 years. She then received phototherapeutic keratectomy. Visual acuity improved to 0.8 in either eye. She is scheduled for long-term clinical follow-up for suspected progression of corneal granular dystrophy.

Conclusion:The present case appears to be due to homozygous gene anomaly. Phototherapeutic keratectomy was effective to improve visual acuity.
