We evaluated the influence of the angle of haptics of posterior chamber lens on the postoper-ative anterior chamber depth and the state of refraction. One series of 30 cases underwent im-plantation of intraocular lens (IOL) with C-looped haptics tilted 10° anteriorly. Another series of 30 cases underwent IOL implantation with non-tilted haptics. In all the cases, the implanted IOL was correctly placed without deviation in the capsule.

The anterior chamber depth decreased with time in both series. The decrease was more pronounced in the series with angled haptics. The posterior chamber depth decreased with time in the series with angled haptics. The posterior chamber depth remained constant throughout the postoperative period in the series with non-angled haptics. The series with angled haptics shifted towards myopia by an average of 0.83 diopters during the first postoperative week. The series of non-angled haptics shifted towards hyperopia by an average of 0.22 diopters during the same period. The corneal curvature returned to the preoperative value 3 months after surgery in both series.
