　従来，わが国の眼科領域において報告のない生検により確定診断された側頭動脈炎の1例を報告した．症例は73歳男性で，眼合併症として左眼に前部虚血性視神経症，毛様網膜動脈閉塞症，網膜中心動脈閉塞症，脈絡膜循環遅延を認めた．ステロイド剤内服治療により右眼の発症は予防されたが，左眼は大きな乳頭陥凹を伴う視神経萎縮となり視力は回復しなかった．左側頭動脈生検にて巨細胞性動脈炎が認められ，側頭動脈炎と確定診断された．

　今後わが国においても詳細な眼所見の記載された側頭動脈炎の診断確定例の集積が必要と考えられた．

We observed a definite case of temporal arteritis. A 73-year-old male presented with headache and acute visual loss in his left eye. Funduscopy and fluorescein angiography revealed central retinal artery and cilio-retinal artery occlusion in addition to anterior ischemic optic neuropathy in his left eye. Biopsy of the left superficial temporal artery showed arteritis with giant cells. He was diagnosedas temporal arteritis. Treatment with oral corticos-teroids prevented involvement of the right eye, but improvement of vision did not occur in the left eye.
