Drainage of subretinal fluid in retinal detachment surgery using carbon dioxide laser

　13例13眼の網膜剥離愚者の網膜下液の排除にCO₂レーザー光を使用したが，確実に網膜下液排除ができ，従来の方法による合併症は全くみられず，大変優れた方法であると思われた。

　We developed a low-power carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser system and applied it to the drainage of subretinal fluid during retinal detachment surgery in 13 eyes. As a standard procedure, diathermy is applied to coagulate the sclera. Sclerotomy is performed to bare the choroid. CO₂ laser is directed to the choroid to perforate it. A single laser application is sufficient under the power output of 2 to 3W, 80 μm spot size and exposure time of 0.05 sec.
