　55〜87歳の患者95例，98眼の滲出性老人性黄斑変性にアルゴンレーザー光凝固を行い経過を観察した。

（1）レーザー凝固後36眼に視力の改善を認めた。効果は病型により相違した。

（2）血管新生を証明しない漿液性網膜色素上皮剥離では13眼中10眼に視力故善し，効果は持続的であった。

（3）広範な出血を欠く網膜下新生血管例では術後73眼中21眼に視力改善したが，その効果は多くは一時的であった。特に，網膜下新生血管膜の長径1乳頭またはそれ以上の大きい例は経過が不良であった。

（4）広範な出血を伴うも限局性の網膜一下新生血管例は12眼中5眼に視力改善し比較的良好な成績であった。

A selected series of 98 eyes (95 cases) with senile exudative macular degeneration were treated by argon laser photocoagulation. The series included serous detachment of retinal pigment epithelium (13 eyes), submacular neovascularization without extensive hemorrhage (73 eyes) and localized submacular neovascularization with extensive hem-orrhage (12 eyes.)

Significant improvement in visual acuity resulted in 36 of the 98 treated eyes. The results were more favorable and lasted longer in cases of pigmentepithelial detachment without subretinal neovascu-larization. Improvement resulted in 10 of 13 eyes in this group.
