  • Look Inside

A 17-day-old female baby manifested clinical features of Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome associated with retinal vascular anomalies simulating active retinopathy of prematurity.

In the right fundus, there was initially dilatation of retinal veins which gradually improved spon-taneously. In the left fundus, on the other hand, the tortuosity and dilatation of retinal veins be-came complicated by formation of arteriovenous shunts and an avascular zone in the extreme pe-riphery. Photocoagulation performed in two sepa-rate sessions resulted in regression of these lesions 10 weeks after birth.
