Neonatal intensive care unit and retinopathy of prematurity

　未熟児網膜症の発生について生下時体重，在胎週数，無呼吸発作，輸血，単胎と双胎との関係を検定したところ，前四者に有意の関係があった。そして，それぞれの相関係数，その各々の相関係数の検定より生下時体重，無呼吸発作，在胎週数，輸血の順で網膜症の発生に関与することが示された。

　無呼吸発作の存在は綱膜症の発生に強く関与し，生下時体重，在胎週数と同等の関与度であった。これら4要因から予測される網膜症の発生は60％であって，なお40％は不明な要因によるものである。

Statistical analysis of risk factors associated with the occurrence of retinopathy of prematurity was carried out on premature infants with birth weights of 1,500 grams or less. Eighteen infants developed retinopathy out of 40 who were admitted to our neonatal intensive care unit and who survived during the 3-year-period ending February 1980. All received controlled to-PO₂ (50-80 mmHg). Multiple correlation analysis of risk factors except supplied oxygen was carried out by computer.
