  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

It was recently reported that continuous-wave laser light of 1,064 nm infrared wavelength can be seen as red color but that a green-color sensation is induced by infrared pulse laser of 1,060 nm wavelength. This strange phenomenon was thought to be due to generation of second harmonic wave of the pulse laser light in the eye.

We tried to confirm this fact using high energy density infrared pulse laser, 1, 064 nm wavelength by Nd-YAG laser, and elucleated albino rabbit eyes. The light spot on the posterior sclera could be seen as green.
