  • Look Inside

We analysed 208 patients with external eye infections (acute conjunctivitis, hordeolum or dacrycystitis), who were seen in Saku Hospital in a rural area in Nagano Prefecture, as regards the causative organisms, sensivity tests and therapeutic outcomes.

The more common organisms were : Hemo-philis influenzae (18.9%), Diplococcus pneumo-niae (12.3%), Staphylococcus aureus (15.7%), Streptococcus (16.4%) and Staphylococcus epidermidis (23.1%). We did not find a case with Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Klebsilla. These tendencies are similar to those observed in the cities in the past.
