The author has reported on a case of sudden decrease of visual acuity following severe uterine hemorrhage.
The patient is a 26 -year-old female who suffered a loss of approximately 1,500 cc of blood while undergoing Cesarean section under closed circuit anesthesia and after recovering from anesthesia she noted a marked visual disturbance of both eyes.
On ophthalmoscopy one week thereafter, palor of the disc and edema of the retina near the posterior pole were noted in both eyes.
