眼科と遺伝学—人類遺伝学は眼科臨床にどの様に役立ち得るか

1．まえおき

　最初に私事にわたつて申し訳ないが，著者の一人が渡英の直前，遺伝学に興味を持ち眼科に志す一後輩に，彼の地の遺伝学に就いて便りを出す事を約束した。その後結局私はその約束を破つて一通も便りを出さなかつた。この文が彼に対する私の不義理の一つの罪減しになればと祈つている。

　遺伝学に就いての綜説は得てして，極めて稀な畸型の症例の文献を集めて羅列する丈になりやすい。実際抄録雑誌の眼遺伝の項に出ている文献を通覧すると，大部分はその様な症例報告である。しかし，云うまでもなく生物に取つては，遺伝は環境と対置して考えられる重要な一面であり，日常我々が接する個々の患者の状態の理解に取つて欠く事の出来ない重要な要素の一つと考えなければならない。以下に私が理解し得た遺伝学最近の進歩を，眼科との関連に於て述べて見たい。

This is a review on the recent advances of human genetics with special reference to ophthalmology. Stress is given on the importance of congenital and hereditary diseasesof the eye as major causes of blindness. The recent development in population genetics on retinoblastoma is present-ed as an example of dominant affection. The importance of consanguinity in recessive traits was described in relation to various important eye disease-s of recessive inheritance. The importance of the detection of carrier state in the prevention of blindness was stressed.
