「いわゆる軽症慢軸」の説について

　中心視力が正常もしくは正常以上で，眼精疲癆その他の眼症状を訴える青少年のあるとき，それらを，「軽症慢性軸性視神経炎」と診断するというわが国一部の人の説に対し，私は症例をあげて疑義を明らかにした^1）。

　鈴木教授は私の主張に対し，「賛意を表する点もあるが，その根底において反駁のやむを得ない事情も多々ある」として，自説を擁護された^2）。

Some clinicians in this country have believed that there are many cases of retrobulbar optic neuritis with normal vision at all time, and insisted that this type is the common form of the mild chronic axial neuritis in Japan.

The author opposed to their dogmatic opinions. He pointed out their diagnostic mistakes and concluded that there are many lack and derangement in their fundamental knowledge regarding clinical neuro-opthalmology and -pathology.
