乳頭浮腫と乳頭炎の問題について

Problems of papilledema and papillitis.

　かねて，私は視束疾患の基礎的な問題について，わが国の一部に，幾つかの独特な偏向もしくわ独断的な誤解のあることを指摘し，特に視東症状に対する用語の問題に焦点をしぼつて，これらの混乱の整理を図るように提案してきた^1）2）。

　学説や理論の第一歩をなす学術用語や定義などに，誤解や偏向を放置したままにしておいて，学術的な問題の討議をしても，所詮それは混乱を重ねるだけになるのは明らかなことであり，特にその恐れが視束疾患の諸問題については始めから予期されたからである。

From the viewpoint of the present conception in the neuroophthalmology, the author discu-ssed on the problems of differentiation between non-inflammatory edema of the optic disc ("pa-pilledema") and inflammatory change of it ("papillitis" or "neuropapillitis").

When the loss of vision appeared abruptly and there was slight or pronounced edema of the disc (type of so-called choked disc), the diagnosis is most probably "retrobulbar neuritis" or "transverse neuritis" of optic pathway.
