An Infrared Refractometer Equipped with an Image Intensifier Tube

緒言

　眼屈折度の他覚的測定に使われるレフラクトメーター（以下，レフと略）は約100年前にSch—midt Rimpler^1）により創製されたが，実用的器種が生れたのは約50年前の1920年代であつた^2）。その後，機器の改良はあつたが，最近アメリカにて開発された自動レフは一時期を画する進歩ではある。今回著者らは，その自動測定器に使われている赤外線を観測式レフの測定光とし暗視管をとりつけた装置を試作して実験し，レフによる眼屈折度測定に関する知見を得た。

A Topcon-III Refractometer was modified for measuring the refraction of the eye by utilizing the infrared rays. The refractions of the spe-cially devised schematic eyes and of the human eyes were done with both the new infrared refractometer and the ordinary Topcon-III using white light. The subjective refractions of the human eyes were also determined. The cali-bration of the data were discussed from the results that the infrared refraction was shifted to plus (hyperopic) side compared with the white light refraction, but the shifting was slighter in case of the human eye than the schematic eye.
