Fifty cases (Fig. 1) of myasthenia gravis ex-amined in the Kitasato University Hospital were analysed. Ocular signs (ptosis, squint, ophthalmoplegia) were recognized in about 80% of the cases respectively. Hypertropia and/or exotropia was most commonly found and esot-ropia was a rare occurrence. Horizontalvertical (complex) disturbances of ocular movement were commonly encountered.

Five cases (10%) had amblyopia. Their age of onset was mostly under 3 years old, and all cases showed horizontal plus vertical restriction of eye movement.
