兵庫県立こども病院における未熟児の眼科的管理（その2）—その臨床的および病理学的検索

Clinical and Histopathological Study of Retinopathy of Prematurity

緒言

　未熟児網膜症^1）の系統的な眼科的管理の必要性^2）が叫ばれてからすでに久しいが，今なお本症による失明患者は後を絶たない。「体重，頭囲，胸囲および身長の増加，その他すべて順調に経過して」退院した未熟児が網膜症による失明児である例は数多い。

　しかし，1968年永田^4）による本症に対する光凝固術の開発によって，本症を早期に発見治療すれば，本症の重篤な進行を未然に防ぎうる可能性が出てきた現在，眼科医のみならず，未熟児に関与する人達の責任はますます重くなつてきたといつても過言ではない。

Twenty-nine cases of retinopathy of prema-turity have been detected out of 108 premature infants (active stage I (Owens) : 13 cases, act. II : 12 cases, act. III : 2 cases, act. IV : 2 cases).

Photocoagulation was applied to 10 cases of retinopathy of prematurity. In all cases, photo-coagulation had remarkable effects on the treat-ment of the retinopathy. Six cases in the con-dition of the active stage II were successfully improved, but 2 cases in active stage III-IV showed contineous activity and more advanced changes.

Histopathological study was done on one case in active stage III after photocoagulation.
