初期白内障に対する2—Mercaptopropionyl-Glycine （Thiola）の効果—（その3）臨床的観察

Clinical Effect of 2-Mercaptopropionyl-Glycine (Thiola) for Senile Cataract

緒言

　著者等は前報^1）2）にて実験的白内障並びに臨床的に老人性初発白内障に対して，SH化合物の一つである2—Mercaptopropionyl-glycine （Thio—la）の効果を検討し報告したが，今回は更に前回の症例の中で引続き長期間経過を観察した症例と新たな対象例について再び検討したので報告する。

Sixty-four cases of senile cataract (126 eyes) were treated by topical instillation of 2-merca-ptopropionyl-glycine (Thiola) for periods rang-ing from 6 to 24 months. The assessment of therapeutic effect was based upon slitlamp photographs.

1. In 54 cases (106 eyes) followed up for shorter periods, absorption of lens opacity was observed in 7 cases (10 eyes), while the condi-tion of the lens in the remaining 47 cases (96 eyes) remained stationary.

2. In cases followed up for longer periods, im-provement set in in 2 cases (3 eyes) out of 10 cases (20 eyes).
