Aspiration of cataracta mollis has been per-formed in 145 eyes of 124 cases during the last 7 years. Three different surgical methods have been devised and practised as routine proceduresin these cases.

These surgical techniques have been evalua-ted as concerns complications during and after the surgery. Simple aspiration (shown as A in Fig. 1 in the text) and aspiration while irrigat-ing the anterior chamber through another nee-dle inserted in the anterior chamber (shown as 13 in Fig. 2 in the text) have proved unsatis-factory as the pupil tended to become miotic during the surgical procedure.
