Ⅰ．緒言

　昭和38年11月，急性症状をもつて発病した糸状角膜炎の5例を，第255回東海眼科学会の席上報告したが，其後，1ヵ年間に，本疾患41例を経験し，此が原因を究明したので報告し，諸氏の御批判を仰ぎたいと思う。

41 cases of the filamentary keratitis were experienced in our clinic in one year. This keratitis had acute onset. The cornea affected with this disease took fine punctate superfi-cial stain with fluorescein and many fine filaments hung down from the surface of the affected cornea

The characteristic symptoms of this disease are dull sensitivity of the affected cornea and decreased ocular tension of the affected eye.

Microscopic study of the filament from the affected cornea revealed that the filament was composed of mucous substance mixed with leucocytes and nuclei of the corneal epithelial cells.
