  • Look Inside

Two cases of ocular myopathy, males aged 34 and 54 years, were examined electromyo graphically and the following results wen obtained.

1) An interference pattern was noted on an effort of maximal contraction although no actual eye movement set in.

2) Various forms of spikes were recorded, i.e., monophasic, diphasic, triphksic and po-lyphasic waves.

3) Spike potentials had an amplitude of 100 to 200 μv. and a duration of 1 to 3 msec., both indicating normal ranges.

4) An effect of edrophonium chloride was observed on potentials from the paralyzed extraocular muscles in one case associated with distal myopathy.
