  • Abstract

Experimentally in rabbits it has been shown that a state of fundus hemorrhage, hyperemia and corneal opacity may be established when the animals are exposed to various external stimuli such as repeated administration of activating substances by injections, electric shocks, moxibustion or extreme heat with high humidity. The authors believe that there are two basic factors that are contributing to these changes.

The first of these is the action of a crystaline substance that is obtainable as extracts from the liver, kidneys and lungs of the animal that has been exposed to external stimuli to the point where a non-specific eye reaction has been established. This substance when injected into the vitreous humor of a normal will cause a retinal hemorrhage.
