Abstract. Purpose:To report findings of choroidal excavation observed by spectral-domain optical coherence tomograph(OCT). Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 16 eyes of 15 cases who were diagnosed with choroidal excavation by spectral-domain OCT during the past 44 months. The series comprised 13 eyes of 12 males and 3 eyes of 3 females. The age ranged from 44 to 90 years, average 62 years. Findings:Nine eyes were free of fundus lesions. Age-related macular degeneration was present in 3 eyes, central serous chorioretinopathy in 2 eyes, adult-onset vitelliform macular degeneration in one eye, and parafoveal telangiectasia in one eye. Serous retinal detachment was present in 2 eyes of age-related macular degeneration and in one eye with parafoveal telangiectasia. Retinal detachment resolved after treatment. Conclusion:Choroidal excavation may be associated with retinal lesion that may disappear after treatment.
