Abstract. Purpose:To report the result of detection of visual field defect in early-stage glaucoma using pupil perimetry with small target size. Cases and Method:The study was made on 11 eyes of 7 males and 3 females. The age ranged from 31 to 78 years, average 59 years. Primary open-angle glaucoma was present in 4 eyes and normal-tension glaucoma in 7 eyes. Visual field was tested on 76 points using infrared pupil perimeter with target size of 4 mm2. The findings were compared with those by automated perimetry. Results:Visual field defect was detected at the rate of 53.2±32.5% by pupil perimetry. Findings agreed with those by automated perimetry in 19.9±11.3%. Blind spot was detected in 5 out of 11 eyes(46%). Conclusion:Visual field defect in early glaucoma was detected at a higher rate by pupil perimetry using a smaller target size. Detection of blind spot was also facilitated. Findings with automated perimetry decreased due to lesser pupil reaction in the periphery.
