Abstract. Purpose:To report the hemodynamics in internal carotid and central retinal artery in 20 normal persons and 20 patients of normal-tension glaucoma. Method:Color Doppler method was used to measure the maximum,average and minimum velocity of blood flow in left-side internal carotid and central retinal artery. Difference between maximum and minimum velocity divided by maximum velocity was defined as resistance index of peripheral circulation. Results:Resistance index in normal persons averaged 0.743±0.08 for central retinal artery and 0.700±0.09 for internal carotid. The difference was significant(p=0.04). In NTG patients,it averaged 0.803±0.04 and 0.745±0.04 respectively. The difference was significant(p=0.0001). NTG patients showed higher values of resistance index for internal carotid and central retinal artery than normal persons. Conclusion:NTG patients may have impaired hemodynamics in internal carotid and central retinal artery.
