Safety control of ocular surgery by attaching serial number tag to bottles containing irrigating solution

要約　目的：手術用の眼内灌流液に異物が混入していた報告があったので，灌流液の安全性向上のために提案した。方法：それぞれの灌流液をどの症例に使用したかを特定できるよう，灌流液の瓶に製造番号を記したシール紙の添付を提案した。結果：千寿製薬がこの提案に賛同し，シール紙を添付することにした。これを診療録に貼り付けることで，それぞれの症例に使用した薬剤の製造番号を特定することが可能になった。結論：この方法は眼内灌流液の安全管理の面で有効であった。

Abstract.　Purpose：Impurities were reportedly found in irrigating solution for ocular surgery. A procedure is proposed to ensure better safety in ocular surgery. Method：A serial number tag is to be attached to each bottle that contains irrigating solution. Result：Senju Pharmaceutical Company accepted this proposal and started to attach serial number tag for its products. By pasting this tag onto the clinical record,it has become possible to identify the manufacturing number of irrigating solution for each patient. Conclusion：This procedure will contribute to better safety of ocular surgery.
