要約　PMMAを素材とする眼内レンズ光学部の縁の形状を変え，その後囊混濁抑制効果を評価した。ワンピース眼内レンズ（HOYA社）を用い，20例の白内障患者に対して，片眼にはノーマルエッジ，他眼にはシャープエッジにしたものを挿入した。患者の年齢は60歳から85歳，平均70歳であった。手術から3か月後に，前眼部画像解析装置で後囊混濁を定量的に測定した。左右眼の視力には差がなかった。後囊混濁濃度は，シャープエッジ眼内レンズ挿入眼が有意に低かった（p＜0.01）。

Abstract.　We modified the edge of optics of PMMA one-piece intraocular lens（IOL）to reduce the opacification of posterior capsule. Cataract surgery was performed on both eyes of 20 patients. Each patient received normal-edged IOL in one eye and sharp-edged IOL in the other. Their age ranged from 60 to 85 years,average 70 years. An anterior image analyzer was used to quantitate the opacification of posterior capsule. Three months after surgery,there was no difference in visual acuity between the pairs of eyes. Eyes receiving sharp-edged IOL showed significantly lesser opacification than the fellow eyes（p＜0.01）.
