Purpose:To report the long-term outcome of selective laser trabeculoplasty and to evaluate its correlation with preoperative circadian intraocular pressure(IOP). Cases:We reviewed 33 eyes of 21 patients. The series comprised primary open-angle glaucoma 24 eyes and normal-tension glaucoma 9 eyes. Their age ranged from 47 to 83 years, average 65 years. Baseline IOP ranged from 11 to 27 mmHg,average 17.4±4.2 mmHg. Method:Trabeculoplasty along 180°of circumference was performed with laser beam of 532 nm in wavelength. Cases were followed up for 2 years or longer. Results:At the final observation,IOP decreased by 2.8±3.3 mmHg. Outflow pressure improved by 18.5±64.1%. Success rate was 71.6% after 6 months and 62.6% after 12 to 24 months of treatment. Circadian IOP was not significantly correlated with rate of success. Conclusion:Selective laser trabeculoplasty induced decreased IOP in eyes with normal-tension or primary open-angle glaucoma.
