Purpose:To report changes in intraocular pressure(IOP)during general anesthesia. Material:This prospective study was entered by 15 adult females who underwent surgery for myoma of uterus. They were aged from 32 to 55 years,average 45 years. Method:General anesthesia was maintained by nitrous oxide and isoflurane. Measurement of IOP by Schiötz tonometer was made before premedication,30 minutes after premedication,immediately and 1 hour after induction of general anesthesia,and 1 hour after awakening. Results:IOP decreased significantly immediately and 1 hour after induction of general anesthesia from the baseline level(p<0.05). IOP returned to baseline level after awakening. Conclusion:IOP decreased during general anesthesia by nitrous oxide and isoflurane.
