腰部脊柱管狭窄症（lumbar spinal stenosis：以下LSSと略す）の手術法の第1選択であり主役をなすものはwide laminectomy（広範椎弓切除術）である．したがつて手術手技に関してはこれを中心にのべるが，各病型により手技上の詳細は異なるので各病型の特徴を熟知して対処せねばならない．本症の国際分類は第1表に，各病型は第1図に示す．
