Background:We evaluated the impact of psychiatric problems on the results of surgical treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis as evaluated by a postoperative JOABPEQ.
Methods:We classified 115 lumbar spinal stenosis patients with low back pain into a normal group and a psychiatric problem group based on BS-POP findings. The two groups were compared in regard to low back pain, JOABPEQ severity scores, and surgical treatment effectiveness.
Results:The postoperative JOABPEQ severity score and surgical treatment effectiveness were lower in the group with psychiatric problems according to the preoperative BS-POP findings.
Conclusions:Psychiatric problems have a negative impact on the results of surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis based on the JOABPEQ severity scores.
