We reported short-term results in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) for severe dysplastic or dislocated hips with KT cross-plates to prevent grafted bone collapse. Subjects were 29 patients (average 57.2 years old) and 30 hips undergoing THA with KT cross-plates. Average follow-up was 2.3 years. The coverage ratio, grafted bone union and collapse, and cup loosening were investigated. The average coverage ratio was 64.5%. All grafted bones were united, and no grafted bone collapsed. Radiolucent lines of less than 1mm around the cup were seen in two cases. The KT cross-plate is thus useful in primary THA for severe dysplastic or dislocated hips.
