　症例は71歳，男性。重症帯状庖疹性脳炎の経過中にRamsay-Hunt症候群，汎発性帯状疱疹，急性膵炎を合併し，多彩な臨床症状を呈した1例を報告した。帯状疱疹性脳炎は血清および髄液におけるVZVに対する抗体価の有意な上昇，血清および髄液におけるPCR法でのVZV-DNAの検出から診断された。本例は上記の疾患群により重症化したが，救命し得た。本例は免疫不全状態になく，悪性腫瘍の合併，重複感染も認めなかったが，これらの有無が予後に関連する可能性が示唆された。

We describe here a 71-year-old man who had her-pes zoster encephalitis. He developed high fever, headache and disturbance of consciousness on 1st, May, 1998. On admission, neurological examination revealed disturbance of consciousness with restless-ness and meningeal signs. Brain MRI (T1 and T2 weighted images) demonstrated high signal lesions in the left temporal lobe and cerebellar vermis. VSV en-cephalitis was diagnosed based on CSF pleocytosis, high serum and CSF titers of VZV antibody and EEG abnormality. During hospitalization, Ramsay-Hunt syn-drome, herpes zoster generalisatus and acute pancrea-titis developed.
