  • Look Inside

Authers studied the fundamental actions of Centro-phénoxine, new drug which is considered to readjust the disturbances of consciousness.

The results obtained in the rabbit are as follows:

1) ECG: Intravenous injection of 10 mg/kg Centro-phénoxine (clinical dose) does not give any change in ECG. In large dosis (50 mg/kg), this drug causes the bradycardia but nutill administration of 100 mg/kg, there is no obvious ECG signs of coronary insufficiency, myocardial damage and conduction block.

2) Blood pressure: Rapid injection or injection of high concentrated Centrophénoxine induces the transient falling of blood pressure. In the caseof slow injection the blood pressure falling is very slight.

3) Microcirculation of pia matter: The alternation of the microcirculation in the pia matter is consider-able: after injection of Centrophénoxine, both arteriole and venule show dilatation and true capillaries becomes visible.

4) EEG: Centrophénoxine does not affect the normal EEG. The EEG changes induced by Nembutal, Urethane-Chloralose and Chlorpromazine are ameliorated by intravenous injection of Centro-phénoxine and goes into the remarkable activation pattern.
