  • Look Inside

The emphasis in cerebral angiography has until recently been centered on the arterial phase. Certainly, all intracranial lesions may have some degree of influence on the arterial system. The effect, however, is not necessa-rily restricted to the arteries alone but the arterioles, capillaries and veins are often affected. Therefore it is of no doubt that the cerebral seriograph offers an excellent oppor-tunity for the study of vascular implications of various lesions. Thus, the cerebral serio-graphic study has been widely used for a decade in Europe and America, but not yet in Japan. For this reason, I deviced a new roll-film cerebral seriographic equippment which was practical in use and not so expensive that it could not be afforded in our country. This apparatus can take 6 serial films, every 0.6, 1.0 or 2.0 sec. respectively, revealing the movement of radiopaque materials in cerebral vessels. I used this apparatus for the diag-nosis of various cerebral diseases such as arteriovenous malformations, brain tumor, cerebral arterioscrelosis, unknown cerebrova-scular diseases etc. and obtained good results (some of them were demonstrated).
