An attempt has been made to clinically de-velop the latent residual disturbances of head injuries by an intravenous administration of 6 mg. of Philopon (=Pervitin). Thirty cases have been studied.
They showed the following abnormal reac-tions: Development of latent neurological sy-mptoms, cloudiness of consciousness and dro-wsiness, dissociation of blood pressure and pulse rate, and abnormal autonomic reactions. These abnormal reactions are observed in most of the brain-injured (14 cases out of 16) and in some cases with history of commotio cerebri (4cases out of 11). No abnormal reacti-ons are seen in the cases with neither brain injuries nor history of commotio cerebri. No neurotic factors are referable to the above-mentioned abnormal reactions. The present study seems to eloquently advocate Faust-Frowein's report (Dtsch. Zschr. Nervenhk., 164, 66, 1950) which asserte Pervitin Test to be a most favoradle method for the differen-tial diagnosis of residual head injuries.
