  • Look Inside

Using the frog (Rana nigromaculata), who-se anterior, unilateral mid-and further more bilateral mid-brains were resected, the cuta-neo-respiratory reflex was researched. Theresults obtained were as follows:

1) Unilateral mid-brain being resected, re-spiratory reflex due to tactile stimuli was observed to be augmznted. In removing bi-lateral mid-brains, augmentative respiratory reflex caused by tactile stimuli was found to be appeared more and more remarkably in the course of time.

2) In frogs, whose unilateral or bilateral mid-brains were resected, inhibitory respira-tory reflex due to pressure stimuli appeared as well. The inhibitory effect in the latter was, however, shown to have a lesser tende-ncy to appear than in the former.

3) From the results mentioned above, it would be affirmed that the frog's mid-brain has the self-regulating function to control au-tomatically the temporary factors in the cu-taneous augmentative and inhibitory respira-tory reflex.
