  • Look Inside

Two of nine siblings from parents of a cousin marriage were diagnosed as having Parkinson's disease (59 y/M, 56 y/F), and another two were diagnosed as having manic-depressive illness (70 y/M, 68 y/F). 0ne of another group of seven siblings was diagnosed as having Parkinson's disease (64 y/M). None of these five patients showed a combination of the two diseases.

A few families with frequent occurrence of Parkinson's disease and manic-depressive illness have been reported. Those cases reported previously and the present cases suggest that there may he genetic and biochemical associations between the two diseases.
