Case management is a central care skill for community psychiatry. The study examined the characteristics of people who received case management services and those who did not receive them amongst the outpatients. Univariate analysis found the significant differences in socio-demographics, functions, and each item in a criteria assessment sheet between the groups. A logistic regression with stepwise model reported that case management services were significantly associated with an intervention of local authority(OR=20.96, p<0.05), diagnosis of schizophrenia(OR=2.43, p<0.05), a history of past admission(OR=4.18, p<0.05), living without family(OR=3.01, p<0.05), violence to family members(OR=3.92, p<0.05), certification for mental health problems(OR=4.38, p<0.05)and use of community mental health services(OR=3.27, p<0.05). Future studies with a rigorous longitudinal design need to test the associations between the variables.
