  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

A case report of a patient with echographia was presented. The phenomena of auditory and optic echographia were observed in a disturbance of consciousness during the post-operative course after surgery for the rupture of the cerebral aneurysm. It was suggested that the following five factors could play important roles in causing echographia in this case: disturbance of consciousness, hypermetamorphosis (Wernicke), transcortical sensory aphasia, echolalia and hypergraphia (graphorrhea). The symptomatological implications of echographia and the other echosymptoms were discussed.
