 Ten years' of activities in early intervention and prevention in psychiatric disorders, especially schizophrenic spectrum disorders, have been reported. The subjects were 13,045 incoming A University freshmen who took the general health examination. Psychosis Proneness Scales (PPS, Chapman LJ et al), or a General Health Questionnaire (GHO, 30) was employed as a screening questionnaire. Using a Structured Clinical Interview, the authors (psychiatrists) interviewed the students who obtained a score above 2SD (PPS) or 10 (GHO). For DSM-Ⅲ-R. Diagnosis was as follows:Prodromal phase of schizophrenia (DSM-Ⅲ-R) was recognized in 12 cases, Borderline Personality Disorder (DSM-Ⅳ) was recognized in 4 subjects, Schizotypal Personality Disorder in 3 cases, Social Phobia in 3 cases and so on. Fifty seven students were follow up for 1~4 years. No student in the psychotic phase of schizophrenia was recognized among the 57 students.
