  • Look Inside

An 87-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus andDDD pacing suffered from infection at the place ofinsertion of the pace maker. Four months later she wasadmittted with a mycotic aneurysm of the thoracicaorta. She was treated with antibiotics and blood pres-sure control but died of bleeding shock caused by eso-phageal perforation. Mycotic aneurysm of the thoracicaorta is rare and, in this case, it arose a considerablylong time after the preceding infection. It is necessarythat, after systemic inflammation of patients with lowerimmune ability, we should follow them carefully by CRPand blood culture for some time.
