<Purpose> We evaluated our ability to predict death within 3 years in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) from their ECG findings because, based on our experience, ECG is less affected by treatment and it possibly shows the progress of the disease more precise-ly. <Method> We chose 25 dead and 27 living patients from among 111 consecutive cases diagnosed as DCM or suspected DCM after excluding secondary myocardial diseases and inappropriately followed cases. We evaluated the electrocardiograms recorded three years before death for dead patients, and three years before this research for living ones.
