Exponential description of the static pressure volume curve of dog lungs

　肺の圧量関係は曲線をなし，肺気量により圧量関係がことなることは周知のことである。このため肺の伸展性を比較するのにFRCの位置より一定気量または一回換気量相当分を計測したりこれをFRCで除した価を用いたり（specific compliance）あるいは特定の気量について計測する（chord compliance）といった方法がとられて来た。これらの方法では肺の容積によりその値が変化し異った条件下での比較を行う場合FRC,TLCの変動の問題が介入して来て相互の比較が困難となる場合が起りうる。

　FRC以上の圧量関係が一つの指数関数で近似できることはSalazarら^1）がすでに指摘しているところであるが，計算機の進歩にともないこのような曲線のあてはめの計算が比較的容易に行われるようになり，Glaisterら^2），Pengellyら^3），Colebatchら^4），Gibsonら^5），Greavesら^6）と相ついで報告が行われている。

In order to improve the quantitative represent-ation of elastic recoil, a formula of exponential function V=V₀ (l-e^-kp), -V₀ is the lung volume at infinite transpulmonary pressure and K is a constant which represents the characteristics of individual lung elasticity- was fitted to the pressure volume data of excised dog lungs. Altogether, excised lobes from 16 normal, and 12 papain-induced emphysematous lungs were examined.
