  • Look Inside

Compliances of the peripheral resistance vessels were studied in order to compare with one another among normotensives, subjects with borderline hypertension and hypertensive patients. The peripheral resistance vessels in normal healthy adults were constricted as narrow as possible by the cold pressor test or the noradrenaline infusion test and were dilated as wide as possible by heat-ing the full body. Following results were ob-tained :

1. The mean value of compliance of the peripheral resistance vessels was the greatest in normotensives, and descending order was less in subjects with borderline hypertension, and hyper-tensive patients. No significant differences were found statistically between normotensives and subjects with borderline hypertension, and be-tween subjects with borderline hypertension and hypertensive patients, but there was a significant difference between normotensives and hyperten-sive patients (p<0.01).
