A simple liquid aerosol genarator which produces micromicellar particles is discribed. The generator based on Dauterbande's principle was designed to produce stable monodisperse aerosols by means of obligatory liquid filtrating process through the turbulent barrier. The 2 percent NaCl aerosols were generated with air pressure of about 10 psi and sampled on a collodion, grid by Casella's thermal precipitator. Particle size was measured on the electronmicroscopic photo-graph and plotted on logarithmic probability paper. The mean diameter, Count Median Diameter, of the saline aerosols was found to be 0.22 micron and the geometric standard deviation 2.36. The use of the generator is of wide variety in medical research related to aerosols such as studies on pulmonary mechanics, pharmacodynamic action of drugs, effect of air pollutants on the lung, penetration and retention of particles in the air way, and the like.
