緒　論

　呼吸器疾患の研究は大別して二つの範疇に分けられる。

　第一は，呼吸器官を障害する因子に対する生体の反応を追及するものであり，従来より障害因子を中心として展開せられて来た形態学的，障害生理学的研究が之に属する。

In order to study conpensatory mechamism for disturbance of intrapulmonary gas ex-change, some preparatory clinical observations were made on several cases of unilateral total atelectasis.

Ventilation at rest in room air was well compensated by the healthy lung and the result of gas analyse of the arterial blood including its acid-base balance was found to be normal, which suggests that pulmonary blood flow of the atelectatic lung had almost ceased.
