  • Look Inside

We have picked up pertinent cases out of about 1,000 cases of hemorrhagic erosions (HE) experienced at Karasawa Hospital to investigate devlopment or ripening process of gastric ulcer. However, as inference was difficult by the study of chronic round ulcer itself, we have tried to draw inference of formation or ripening process of solitary round ulcer from those of kissing ulcers.

1, HE arising from virgin mucosa remains as Ul-Ⅱ at the utmost in the pyloric antrum, and we have reported that usually it does not reach deeper layers.

In one case we have demonstrated that the same must be true in HE occurring at the gastric angle and on the lesser curvature of the body. Another case made us to come to the same conclusion.

2, Ulcers on the body seem to assume the same patterns, either Ul-Ⅲ or Ul-Ⅳ. We have presented here a case in which repetitions of HE lesions played a sure and decisive role in the development of such ulcers.

3, A case is presented here in which ulcer scars formed locus minoris resistentiae at the time of peptic attack striking the gastric mucosa.

4, Kissing ulcers show various patterns of development; some would arise synchronously and occupy the same extent; and some would develop diachronically and be of different proportions.

5, Repetitions of HE would result in chronic gastritis in the pyloric antrum as in chronic ulcers on the lesser curvature of the body. We cannot as yet explain its reason, but we were able to dissolve to some degree the exsisting disassociation between HE and chronic ulcer by the study of the development of kissing ulcers.
